The laser can also be used to treat spider veins on the legs and face. The laser uses light to constrict blood vessels in the legs, causing the veins to visibly disappear. It’s a simple, clinically proven procedure for reducing the appearance of spider veins.

  1. Spider veins are small dilated blood vessels near the surface of the skin or mucous membranes.
  2. They can develop anywhere on the body but, are commonly seen on the face around the nose cheeks and chin.
  3. They can also develop on the legs, specifically on the upper thigh, below the knee joint and around the ankles.
  4. Bruising on the legs can last as long as 3 months while the body takes time to absorb the lasered vein
  5. Bodyside Laser Clinic does not treat any spider vein that is bigger than the thickness of a toothpick,

Treatment and Care

  1. The number of treatments will depend on the size and amount of spider veins. (This will be discussed in your consultation).
  2. Treatments should be carried out 6 – 12 weeks apart.
  3. No numbing cream is to be applied prior to the treatment.
  4. The actual laser treatment feels like a quick snapping sensation.
  5. After the treatment, there may be some red lines where the laser has gone over the veins, this is normal.
  6. Preparation H is applied directly after the treatment and must be reapplied for about a week, daily, afterwards. The Preparation H helps to keep the veins closed.
  7. Ice packs may be used at anytime over the few days post treatment
  8. A cool/warm shower can be taken but no hot baths or saunas for +/- 3 days.
  9. It is advised not to do any physical exercise post laser treatment for 1 – 3 days.
  10. Facial spider veins will heal within 4-10 days;
  11. Leg veins could take up 3 months to heal. This is all dependent on aftercare and how big or deep the blood vessels were. The larger blood vessels take longer to absorb.
  12. No sun exposure to the treated area and apply sunscreen
